Goodbye HLC - A New Chapter for Gunpowder & Limelight
Twelve years ago, a group of passionate lacrosse leaders came together with a simple goal: create a community-focused program where player development comes first.
HLC was founded by Sue Bowen, Bobby Martino, Bill Pisano, Wingate Pritchett, Alan Seider, and Corey Williams. HLC was built on the belief that athletes deserve exceptional coaching, strong values, and an opportunity to grow in a positive environment without placing an unnecessary financial burden on families.
Over the years, that vision has grown into two thriving programs, serving hundreds of athletes throughout our community.
Today, we are excited to share an important milestone in that journey.
Beginning July 1, the HLC name will be retired as Gunpowder Lacrosse and Limelight Lacrosse begin transitioning into two independent organizations.
This transition reflects the tremendous growth and success of both programs. What started as one organization has evolved into two strong communities, each with its own identity, leadership, and future.
While the HLC name will be sunset, the mission, values, and commitment to our athletes remain unchanged. For years, the "H" in HLC has stood for: Honor. Heritage. Humility. Hard Work. These principles have guided our athletes, coaches, families, and leadership teams and will continue to be at the heart of both Gunpowder and Limelight moving forward.
Families can expect a gradual transition over the next year as branding, technology, websites, and operational systems evolve. Throughout this process, Gunpowder and Limelight will continue working together and partnering on facilities, events, technology, and other shared resources to ensure a seamless experience for our athletes and families.
Both organizations will continue operating as nonprofit programs with a commitment to delivering high-quality player development while keeping costs as affordable as possible. We remain under Hereford Zone Recreation & Parks communities and are grateful for their continued support.
Most importantly, this transition is rooted in growth, not separation.
With Limelight entering this new chapter, the program will continue under the leadership of Todd Jones and Sunni Houston Scott. For more than five years, they have been at the heart of building Limelight's culture, community, and opportunities for athletes.
The Gunpowder program will continue under the leadership of Ron Klausner and Serina Webster. Together, they bring decades of experience in coaching, leadership, player development, and program administration. They have played a key role in strengthening Gunpowder's culture, expanding opportunities for athletes, and reinforcing the program's commitment to development-first lacrosse.
Both Limelight and Gunpowder remain deeply committed to supporting families and ensuring the program continues to grow, compete, and thrive for many years to come. The friendships, relationships, and shared history between our organizations remain strong. We are incredibly proud of everything that has been built together over the past 12 years and excited for what lies ahead.
As we close the chapter on HLC, we do so with gratitude for everyone who helped build it and excitement for the future of both programs. The name may be changing, but the mission remains the same: Develop great players. Build great teammates. Strengthen our community. Grow the game.
Thank you all for being part of our story.
With gratitude - The Gunpowder & Limelight Leadership Teams
